Bangkok. An
honors degree college student allegedly hanged herself after undergoing
cosmetic surgery with disappointing results, news reports said Wednesday.
Benyapa Senachan, 22, who was due to graduate later this month from Bangkok’s
prestigious Chulalongkorn University with honors in dramatic arts, was found
hanging from a belt in her room at home on Tuesday by her parents, the Bangkok
Post reported.
Police believe she committed suicide.
Benyapa’s parents told police that she had often complained about the results
of a cosmetic surgery job she had undergone in April on her nose, chin and
lips.
“She told her family she wanted to die so she could be reborn with new lips,”
said the Bangkok Post, citing the outcome of the investigation of Police
Lieutenant Colonel Jirawat Chokechai.

It is not a strange sight to see fifteen year olds clad with 6 inch high
heels teetering and tottering around. High heels are the picture of
maturity power and glamor. Looking older than you actually are is what
every Indonesian teenager yearns for, especially with the amount of
make-up they slather on their face but that’s a different story.
Ultimately
wearing high heels gives the illusion that your legs are longer and
more proportional to the body, giving the air of confidence.
Tall
women are also perceived as elegant and beautiful. Thus, high heels are
already stereotyped as 'the vital shoe of beauty.' If one would go to a
club or party these days, girls wouldn’t be caught dead without wearing
high heels.
Beauty does come with a price though. Most
women go home after a day in heels to a warm foot bath to soothe their
achy ankles and blossoming blisters. Some opt for more comfortable shoes
to wear in the car, far from the nosy eyes of the ever so snooty
public.
As seen in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada,” as Meryl
Streep’s character starts to enter the building, one of the employed
hastily switches from ugly yet comfortable shoes to pointed high heels
which are deemed fashionable for work.
The problem with stiletto
heels, an instance, is that all our weight is concentrated on the balls
of your feet. And if this is continued for a long period of time, it
would affect your bones and, in time, you would end up with
metatarsalgia.
Metatarsalgia is a common problem developed among
women because of the prolonged use of high heels. It is a condition
which affects the metatarsal region (the ball of the feet), resulting in
pain in the joints. Experts had also warned that towering heels could
bring an increased risk of arthritis in later life.
According
to an article published by the Guardian, more than 40 percent of
high-heel wearers have suffered an accident in them – most often from
falling over. Examples could include various accidents on the fashion
runway when models often twist their ankles when walking with impossibly
high heels. How are we, everyday people, to possibly manage to stay
vertical on high heels when professionals can’t help plunging on their
face now and then?
Worry no more ladies, for there are other
alternatives to stiletto heels and these magical walking devices are
called wedges. Wedges are relatively healthier than stilettos because it
supports the whole foot with its bigger chunk of heel at the bottom.
Professor Anthony Redmond, a researcher at the Society of Chiropodists
and Podiatrists, further advised that women would choose for round toed
shoes with a maximum heel of 1 inch and shock absorbent soles. Flats are
also recommended as they’re comfortable and look just as professional
as heels do.
The next time you slip on a pair of high heels, think if your ankles are worth sacrificing for that cute boy next door.

When Barry Fairbrother dies in his early forties, the town of Pagford is left in shock.
Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.
Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.
And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity, and unexpected revelations?
A big novel about a small town, The Casual Vacancy is J. K. Rowling’s first novel for adults. It is the work of a storyteller like no other.
The Casual Vacancy - 512 pages
The audio edition of The Casual Vacancy will be read by Tom Hollander, an experienced star of stage and screen.
Notes to Editors: Barry Fairbrother’s surname was incorrectly given as Fairweather in our original press release. This was Little, Brown UK’s error, and we are correcting it now.

Russell Harding, director of the upcoming release of Sony's Wonderbook: Book of Spells, written by J.K. Rowling and
exclusively sold for Playstation 3, revealed new tidbits about the interactive book, including
the fact that the Harry Potter author wrote five extra poems related to
the wizarding world in the book itself. Details of the wizarding world,
including a history of spells, reveal themselves as the owner of the book and
PS3, who have the Playstation Move addition that acts as a magic wand to cast
spells, apparently against magical foes featured in the book.
Wonderbook: Book of Spells is set to be released this December in North
America, and in November throughout Europe; it can be pre-ordered here on Amazon.com.
We have a lot of Harry Potter fans in New Zealand who are sad the books and movies have come to an end. Is Book of Spells the next step for them?
Harding: Well I think the Book of Spells explores the wizarding world further. It’s full of unique spell descriptions written by JK Rowling herself, so giving some of the background behind some of the famous spells, she’s created some really fun stories around how those spells were discovered.
We also have five nice poems that have been written around the moral values that wizards really need to obtain. They’re great pieces of poetry that are written by JK Rowling and are totally unique. So the fans will absolutely love that. There’s a lot more depth to this world.
Were any additions made to the Harry Potter universe in Book of Spells endorsed as canon?
Harding: It’s been a total collaboration with JK Rowling, she’s added a lot more depth to the world by exploring the spells, giving more background, naming some of the wizards that previously we hadn’t heard of, telling us dates when certain spells were invented and so on. She’s added more richness to that world herself.
This is a book that belongs in the restricted section at the library of Hogwarts, and you’re given the opportunity to take it from the shelf and actually explore it. No Muggle has been given that opportunity before.
What we’ve seen here at E3 is a lot of training spells and destroying targets and so on. Can players expect to face more fierce enemies from the dark side of the Harry Potter world?
Harding: As you explore the chapters through the Book of Spells of course you’ll meet a number of magical beasts, and as you go through the chapters the spells will become more challenging. There will be more depth to the book as you go through. You’ll meet some of those well-known foes and we’ll be revealing those as we go through our campaign over the summer.
