EXCLUSIVE: Juventus Have The Money To Make Big Signings - Alessio SeccoAlessio Secco has exclusively told Goal.com that Juventus will have money to spend on big signings this summer.
The sporting director was speaking at the draw for the 2009 Peace Cup, where Juventus were selected alongside Sevilla and Seongnam Ilhwa.
Even though his first words were, "I am not going to speak about the transfer market", he went on to state that Juventus fans can be "excited" as they look forward to next season.
"The club has a strategy of growth and we have the money to make important signings this summer," he told Goal.com.
"We have good reasons to be excited as we look ahead to what could be a very good season."
Juventus currently sit in second place, ten points behind Inter and even though the Serie A is all but over, Secco says "up to now we are happy".
"We always said that the objective this season was to improve on the last one, we finished third then and now we are second. We did well in the Champions League by winning our group and then we were beaten by a great team in Chelsea. Wednesday we have the semi-final of the Coppa Italia. We will see what happens in the next few weeks and then we will be able to say whether we have had a good or bad season," he explained.
With only seven matches remaining in the season, the objectives for Juventus are simply to finish second and lift a trophy in the Coppa Italia, and Secco knows both are important.
"To win the Coppa Italia is an objective, clearly. It would be the first trophy that Juventus have lifted since what happened three years ago[Calciopoli scandal]. But, to finish second and to not have to go through the qualifying stages of the Champions League is also important, it is key for a club such as Juve," he concluded.
